WEATHER & TROPICAL UPDATE FROM US NWS LAKE CHARLES 9.5.24

Excessive Rainfall and Tropical Updates

Morning All,

Only a slight update to the Excessive Rainfall Outlook today with the addition of the Moderate Risk (lvl3/4) over to the east of us. A majority of our area remains in a Slight Risk (lvl2/4) of excessive rainfall.

Tomorrow, parts of south central Louisiana are in a Slight Risk (lvl2/4), with rainfall tapering over the afternoon to evening hours.

The Flood Watch has remained unchanged and expires tomorrow evening.

Regarding the tropics, the NHC is monitoring a trough of low pressure that’s producing showers and storms across the TX&LA coast. Upper-level winds are expected to become less conducive for development tomorrow and into the weekend as a front approaches. Although development is unlikely, heavy rainfall is expected across our area today and tomorrow.
