At 02:39 am, St Mary 911, dispatched Franklin Fire Department along with Centerville Fire Department, to St Joseph Lane for a house fire.

Engine crews arrived on scene 02:44, locating a mobile home with fire and smoke coming from multiple sides.

Hose lines were deployed and crews made entry into the structure, to begin extinguishing fire, quickly bringing it under control.

Total of 3 engines, 1 rescue units, and 15 firefighters responded to the scene. Acadian Ambulance and St Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office also responded.

Three Individuals were home at the time and escaped unharmed. No injuries reported to civilian or fire personnel. Cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Red Cross has been contacted for assistance for the residents.

This was the second structure fire that both Franklin and Centerville Fire Departments had responded to within 4 hours this evening. Chief Chuck Bourgeois would like to stress the importance for working smoke alarms inside your home.

Road or Lane Status
US 90 WB in Morgan City, St. Mary Parish, Lane Closures

The right lane of US 90 westbound on the Atchafalaya River Bridge will be closed on Tuesday, April 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., weather permitting.

This closure is necessary to allow crews to perform bridge maintenance repairs.

Emergency vehicles will have access to the area but may encounter delays.

The road will be open to regular traffic with 12-foot lane restrictions on oversized loads passing through the work zone.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

UPDATE, 7:22 am - The roadway is open.

KQKI TRAFFIC ALERT

Single vehicle accident involving a rolled over vehicle on Highway 83, just before Glencoe. The roadway is down to one lane. St. Mary Parish District 11 Fire Department and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office are on-scene of the accident. No injuries were reported.
