ST MARY PARISH HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN DEVELOPMENT MEETING 4.14.26 10 AM

Community Input Sought for 2026 St. Mary Parish Multi-Jurisdictional
Hazard Mitigation Plan Update

PUBLIC MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT
Franklin, LA— St. Mary Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, in collaboration with the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) and the Stephenson Disaster Management Institute (SDMI) at LSU, invites residents to attend the second public meeting of the 2026 St. Mary Parish Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) update process.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 14th at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary Parish Council Meeting Room, located on the 5th floor of the Courthouse at 500 Main St., Franklin, LA 70538.
The purpose of this meeting is to review the plan update process, discuss the structure of the plan, and outline the responsibilities and expectations of planning committee members. This session is an important step in identifying local capabilities, critical facilities, and vulnerable populations. The information gathered will help inform strategies that reduce disaster risks, protect lives, limit property damage, and strengthen the long-term resilience of St. Mary Parish.

St. Mary Parish OHSEP and LSU-SDMI are working to ensure the plan reflects the priorities and needs of parish residents. To help inform the plan, community members are encouraged to complete a short online survey and share their perspectives on local hazards by visiting the following link:
