UPDATE FROM US NWS LAKE CHARLES 7.29.26

There is a Heat Advisory in effect today from 10 AM to 8 PM for east central Louisiana and Acadiana for the potential of apparent temperatures or the heat index up to 110 degrees.

It should be noted that the forecast for today and Thursday is a little tricky as “mixing” of the air from above may lower the dew points in the afternoon during max heating that the criteria for oppressive heat may not be reached or reached for just a brief period. However, with that said, there was enough confidence that the heat index would reach the 108 to 110 degree range for areas under the Heat Advisory for today.

A slight change in the weather pattern looks to bring some rain chances in the forecast by the weekend with a gradual decrease in the heat risk from major to moderate.
