UPDATE: This project will now begin Sunday, August 16, and is estimated for completion in September 2026.

Additionally, for the week of August 16, crews will also work during the day from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

ST. MARY PARISH, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that work will begin Tuesday, August 11, on a $987,523 pavement striping project along US 90 in Iberia and St. Mary parishes.

The project extends from west of the LA 85 interchange in Jeanerette to the intersection of LA 182 near the bridge over the Wax Lake Outlet.

Construction will consist of replacing pavement markings and completing related work to enhance roadway visibility and improve traffic guidance for motorists.

Well-maintained pavement markings play a critical role in roadway safety by improving lane visibility, especially during nighttime and adverse weather conditions. Fresh striping helps drivers better navigate travel lanes, ramps, and intersections and contributing to safer, more efficient travel along this heavily traveled corridor.

Work is expected to take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Motorists should expect rolling lane closures and slow-moving operations on both eastbound and westbound US 90, including entrance and exit ramps.

Additionally, outside lane closures and temporary ramp closures will be necessary throughout the project to allow crews to safely remove and replace pavement markings on interchange gores and shoulders. Specific closure dates and locations will be announced in future press releases.

The project is anticipated to be complete by August 31, 2026.
