TROPICAL UPDATE FROM US NWS LAKE CHARLES 10.7.26

Good morning all,
In the overnight hours, Tropical Depression 9 was upgraded to Tropical Storm Isaias. Latest guidance brings the storm in somewhere between Diamondhead, MS and Pensacola, FL. While this is rather east of us, impacts can extend great distances away from the storm center.
There is low confidence in exact landfall location and intensity of Isaias this weekend, which translates directly to anticipated impacts across south central and southwest Louisiana.
Continue to anticipate elevated rain chances and breezy to gusty winds over the weekend, particularly for those with outdoor plans, and keep a very close eye on following forecast updates.
Beyond Isaias, breezy conditions brought by the system may exacerbate fire conditions as daytime relative humidity values fall to less than 30 percent. This may create an environment supportive of fast-spreading wild fires Thursday and Friday, before tropical humidity can return.
Please let us know if you have any questions or forecast questions.
