WEATHER UPDATE FROM US NWS LAKE CHARLES SLACK CHANNEL 7.7.26

Good Morning Partners. There is a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall due to the high rainfall rates that may occur within some of the scattered convection today. Generally this would amount to nuisance ponding near slow drainage areas, however, do mind the radar trends and any updates to the forecast. Atmospheric thermodynamics suggest healthy mature thunderstorms may become severe, therefore we have a Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms wind gusts this afternoon as well for interior portions of the forecast area.  Forecast ahead calls for a downtrend in precip chances through the middle of the week before increasing through the weekend. Hot and muggy high temperatures are more or less a copy and paste forecast with the type of pattern in place.
