WEATHER UPDATE FROM US NWS LAKE CHARLES SLACK CHANNEL 6.4.26

NWS – Lake Charles – Thomas Silas  [7:18 AM]

Good Thursday morning! A tropical-like airmass parked over the area in combination with a weak low pressure area in the Gulf will continue to bring high chances for showers and thunderstorms to central and southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas. A few storms are moving inland off the Gulf already this morning, and we expect coverage of showers/storms to increase this afternoon across our area. The environment remains supportive of heavy rainfall, and we could see a few areas of nuisance street flooding. This general pattern looks to continue through the weekend.

For our marine partners, we will see breezy easterly winds and elevated seas today through early tomorrow morning. A small craft advisory is in effect for all coastal waters from 0 to 60 nm east of Cameron beginning at 1 PM today and extending through tonight.
