UPDATE FROM US NWS LAKE CHARLES SLACK CHANNEL 7.20.26

It will be hot today through Wednesday with a heat advisory in effect for much of Central and Southcentral Louisiana. There is a good potential that heat advisories will be needed area wide on Tuesday. Things begin to change on Wednesday into Thursday as TD 2 is still expected to become a tropical storm later today or tonight before reaching the coast. With close proximity to land and increasing wind shear across Southwest Louisiana, the storm is expected to weaken as it crosses Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas with best chances for tropical storm force winds confined to the coast and coastal waters. With the increasing northerly shear most of the showers and thunderstorms are expected on the southern side of the system keeping the heavier rainfall confined to the coastal areas and over the coastal waters.
