UPDATE FROM US NWS LAKE CHARLES RAPID ONSET OR FLASH DROUGHT

Hello Partners,

We wanted to give you a heads up that the area is now outlined for Rapid Onset Drought or a Flash Drought.

A prolonged period of hot and dry conditions is expected for basically the remainder of August. This will lead to

drier antecedent conditions that will potentially increase drought and fire weather conditions.

Those who have interests in the fire community, along with agricultural and water resource communities,

should continue to monitor this situation and begin to make plans for increasing fire and drought potential.
